As the module leader for the Level 6 Project Management module at London South Bank University, I integrated LessonLab’s Taito Stakeholder simulation into our teaching on stakeholder management for a cohort of over 120 students. The simulation placed students in the role of a project manager overseeing stakeholder engagement in a complex, high-profile pulp mill project in Uruguay.

This AI-powered tool fundamentally changed the learning experience from passive theory-based lectures to active, experiential learning. Students were challenged to identify, analyze, prioritize, and engage with a range of simulated stakeholders, each with unique perspectives and levels of influence. Through lifelike conversations powered by generative AI, students developed tailored communication strategies and adapted in real time based on stakeholder reactions.

The simulation also provided personalized feedback, helping students reflect on and improve their stakeholder management decisions. The experience not only deepened their understanding of concepts like stakeholder salience and engagement planning, but also built their confidence in applying these skills in realistic project scenarios.

Our students described the experience as immersive, motivating, and engaging, and many said it helped them grasp stakeholder dynamics more effectively than any traditional classroom method. It’s a valuable tool for enhancing both learning outcomes and learner engagement.
