The right competencies, measured the right way

The right competencies, measured the right way

LCD’s competence model rests on two things: what we choose to measure, and how reliably we measure it.

Validity

Every competency comes from the most prominent double-blind, peer-reviewed literature across leadership, sales and customer service, chosen for its evidence of real-world impact.

Reliability

Each competency is measured through indicators built on observable behavior in the simulated AI conversations, checked for consistency across repeated assessments.

The evidence behind LCD

The evidence behind LCD

Traditional lecture-based training leaves a gap between theory and practice. Empirical evidence shows that AI-based scenario learning, the method behind LessonLab’s LCD model, transfers competence directly into everyday performance and cuts training time in half.

High transfer of learning

Simulations turn passive knowledge into lasting behaviour through real-time action.

Chernikova et al., 2020

Training time cut in half

Digital simulation-based learning shortens time to competence by up to 50%.

Virginia Tech, 2026

Confidence and readiness

Guided role-play builds professional confidence and the ability to handle pressure.

NIH, 2022; JNAE, 2025

An optimized learning path

Structured difficulty and objective feedback keep learning effective without overwhelming.

Chernikova et al., 2020

86% of managers say dynamic GenAI-based practice builds practical leadership skills more effectively than traditional training materials (The Harris Poll & Google, 2024-2026).

A living model, built together

LCD keeps evolving through ongoing research collaboration with universities and clients. We’re already exploring how recognizing facial expressions and gestures could become a meaningful part of the learning process. The model itself is also used as a research instrument.
